Why I made it
I’m a big geek, I love building useful things and I try to support local whenever I can. DigitalEmber Local brings all of that together: it helps people discover nearby businesses and events, while helping me learn more about the area at the same time.
A fresh local feature every morning
The website is 100% automated. Each morning it explores our area and shares one local business, along with events happening that day. It draws on websites, social pages, listings, local stories and community posts to put each feature together.
There is a bit of careful checking behind it, but the idea is simple: celebrate good things happening close to home. Businesses do not need a fancy website or a huge following either. Sole traders, home-based businesses and tiny local services are every bit as welcome here.
Free to feature. Always.
There is no fee to appear and no paid queue. Every business is chosen independently, whether it is a well-known local favourite or one person doing a brilliant job from a van, workshop or kitchen table.
